Keir Starmer - A big disappointment

I was initially very supportive of Starmer and thought he would be a good choice for leader, but he has just been awful. Completely failing to hold the government to account, especially on brexit. Alienating the left wing of the party Sucking up to big business on tax Awful treatment of Corbyn Massively beholden to the views of Northern brexiteers Wishy washy on policy Even his barrister background which people thought would be great against Johnson in PMQs really doesn't work when he can... Optoma UHD38 and Nvidia shield settings

Hi all. I've recently bought an optoma UHD38 mainly for movies and gaming but unsure of the video settings to use on my shield. I have the projector set at a distance of around 4m projecting a screen size of 107" on my sapphire screen. The picture is a massive step up from my old projector and the 4000 lumens output is great for daytime viewing. The one thing about the image I'm not a fan of is a very light blue shadow just above any bright text. It's not really noticeable in movies etc... Read more from AVForums https://ift.tt/2ZFDeWx

Slim on-wall speaker recommendations?

I'm looking into the possibility of mounting speakers behind an acoustically transparent projector screen, but I have the following limitations: The speakers can't go in the wall, so they need to be an on-wall design. The space behind the screen is very limited, so I want the slimmest design possible (ideally less than 10cm) The speakers will be used at least as much for music as movies, so they need to provide reasonable hi-fi performance. My alternative is to mount... Read more from AVForums https://ift.tt/3jJTyNj

The LEGO Thread. Including all other compatible products.

Apart from the 'show off the stuff you bought' thread, where lots of people seem to be buying Lego, I couldn't find a dedicated Lego thread. (Apologies if there is already one running - I am happy to be directed to it and close this one) My Lego collection is primarily Technic. I 'played' with Lego town sets as a kid and also had some of the early Technic sets. I guess I no longer play with it - rather I collect it and display the models. Has a software update altered settings?

A few days ago I switched on my TV which was already tuned to More4, where there was a programme called The Perfect Pitch, about a campsite I had been to at Pencarnan in Prembrokeshire. The trouble is that it looked as if the entire film was under-exposed, with very little contrast and washed-out colours. Meghan and Harry, for or against?

This is big in the world of news. Oprah’s interview will presumably be viewed by millions and ITV have won the rights to show it for a reported £1m. Panasonic ub820 player audio issues

I have a ub820 connected to a chunky old amp - the Denon AVC-A1SE - via analogue cables. My speakers are the reasonably big KEF THX Reference range. I recently upgraded my set to Rega Planar 3 with AT VM95SH and Rega IO and I'm still using my old Mission 702e speakers. Though they get to sound much better now, I'm thinking of an upgrade to do the Regas justice. The recommendations I see around is for smaller mounted speakers, but I heard Rega IO with 4om floorstanders and it didn't struggle too much. Can you recommend floorstanders to pair with my system? I like the detail and the responsiveness and not too bright sound.. Thank you... Read more from AVForums https://ift.tt/3A1Co35

DMX Light Control

Looking for some guidance on cabling. Having issues making a controller talk to a 4 x parcan LED bar. It kind of works using OB3 but not fully. The current fly in the ointment is we only have XLR mic cables rather than a proper DMX cable. Is that really likely to be an issue over a short distance with a single fixture? Wasn't sure where to post this where it will be seen! Had a search & found a few post from a now deleted member & it seems @Khazul & @Seb Briggs may have some... Can I disconnect Hive from Wifi as it's draining internet speeds

Hi, we recently had Hive installed after our boiler pump failed. Whilst it works well, we live in an area with very poor internet and it's draining what little speed we have. Can we disconnect the hub from the wifi and if so how, and will we still be able to have the heating on? Or do we need to get it removed and replace it with a manual thermostat? Many thanks. from AVForums https://ift.tt/3BpTB6M

I Know The Cost Of Everything Is Going Up But....

....this feels a bit ridiculous. We moved into a new property back in March. There was no rear garden, just a large gravelled parking area at the end of the drive We were not worried about that in the short-term but did plan to get it sorted asap so immediately started getting quotes. Unsurprisingly, everyone we had round was giving lead times of several months and the one we eventually went with booked us in for this week, starting on Wednesday. This evening we got a call from the... Read more from AVForums https://ift.tt/3mhAqYy

Wharfdale SW 150 Set Up

I have just purchased 2 Wharfdale SW 150 subwoofers to go with my new Denon AVC-X6500 Amp. I'm operating a 7:2:4 system. After running the Audyssey set up on the Denon I tweaked the settings manually. My other speakers are now crossed over at 80 hertz. I find when playing the Denon test tones the SW tones are almost silent from the subs. Why is this? What should I set the crossover switch to on the back of the subs. The available range is 35 to 85. What do I need to match my HiFi?

So, I have a rather nice - in my opinion at least - stereo set up in the form of B&W Formation Duos, which retail at £3500 plus the rather overpriced speaker stands at £700. Short of streaming music via Spotify Connect from my iPhone, this is my entire set up. In essence a £4200 hifi. My question is what would I have to spend on a set of high end headphones, an amp and DAC, plus cables, to achieve the same quality in listening? I’m not necessarily trying to replicate the B&W sound... Read more from AVForums https://ift.tt/3BmiaSe
