So what's the "go to" AV Receiver these days that doesn't cost a mint?

I currently have a Sony STRDN1040 that is still performing well, however, it struck me the other day as my mutt was frollicking around in front of my AV stand that I might want to firmly ask her to move on given it appears you can no longer purchase a Sony STRDN1080 and no replacement seems imminent.
