PCM or Bitstream to STR-DN850

Possibly got to much time on my hands this week but after browsing the net this evening its got me wondering if I've got my TV set up correctly.

Current set up is:

Tv - Samsung 55" Q80T
AMP - Sony STR-DN850
Speakers - Q Acoustics 3010i 5.1 cinema pack

I've a feeling when I set the TV up I set the audio out via the earc hdmi to the amp to PCM. I'm wondering now if it should be set to bitstream so that I have more sound mode options via the amp rather than using the TV. I got thinking about...

Hi, I'm new here. I've just sold my Arcam FMJ P7 to a great guy who is on these forums. So I now have my Arcam FMJ AV9 pre-amp to sell. This has been a great processor for me, and I can honestly be thankful to it for revealing subtle elements on recordings that no other pre-amp has given me.
