Length of time to change songs

I use Amazon HD via the following three apps: Amazon’s own iOS app via Airplay; Blue Sound app direct to a Node 2i; Play-Fi app direct to an Anthem processor. In all cases when a song naturally ends the next up in the playlist plays in a second or two as youd expect. However, if I want to change to another song mid-track the following happens:

Amazon App - no issue, just hit the next song title and it plays in a second or two. But limited to CD quality using Airplay
Bluesound app - can take...
