Help going to 7.1

So I've currently got a stereo set up with a pair of missions, a rotel RA-820ax, and a fiio Q1 from my pc, and I'm planning to gradually move to 7.1. Having done a bit of surface research, I'm assuming if I got a 5.1 receiver (something like a YAMAHA RX-V540) then I could make a 7.1 system. The idea being that I get some sort of USB 5.1 card like this for now (planning on getting a motherboard with 7.1...

Hi, I'm new here. I've just sold my Arcam FMJ P7 to a great guy who is on these forums. So I now have my Arcam FMJ AV9 pre-amp to sell. This has been a great processor for me, and I can honestly be thankful to it for revealing subtle elements on recordings that no other pre-amp has given me.
