Do you need a TV Licence if you watch live TV via an online provider only?

Theres seems to be a lot of debate about Amazon Prime's new 2 week Christmas Premier league coverage and if you need a TV Licence or not to watch it, to which the short answer is yes.

Watching or recording live TV broadcasts recieved via any format via any device requires a TV Licence.

Typical examples where online sport is concerned are the BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, ALL 4, BT Sport, Amazon Prime Tennis and...
