Turntable/preamp/receiver issue-no sub in stereo mode

Hi
New member here. I recently purchased a turntable, having been without one for probably 15+ years. My receiver does not have inputs for a turntable, so I connected to an old Radio Shack 42-2109 preamp and into the analogue CD inputs on the Pioneer VSX-821 receiver. The problem is that, when I use any of the stereo modes on the receiver, the subwoofer cuts out and I only get signal through the front two speakers. If I use a surround mode, the sub cuts back in. I don't get why I'm losing...

Hi, I'm new here. I've just sold my Arcam FMJ P7 to a great guy who is on these forums. So I now have my Arcam FMJ AV9 pre-amp to sell.
