M-DAC+ & AE1 Active - good combo?

I plan on using a squeezebox as a streamer with coax into the M-DAC+ and balanced (XLR) to the AE1s.

I have listened to the AE1s and they were fine but I haven't had the opportunity to listen to both devices together so am keen to hear of anyone's experience.

Also, should I consider an alternative DAC/Pre-amp & active speakers or perhaps a DAC, Integrated Amp and Passive Speakers - any suggestions for the same budget (<2k) gratefully received!

Hi, I'm new here. I've just sold my Arcam FMJ P7 to a great guy who is on these forums. So I now have my Arcam FMJ AV9 pre-amp to sell. This has been a great processor for me, and I can honestly be thankful to it for revealing subtle elements on recordings that no other pre-amp has given me.
