Music on a mono speaker

Why do some songs appear to lose info on a single mono speaker?
For example Bohemian Rhapsody has quite a few bits missing, eg "little low", also the Galileo bits, at a guess I would assume as this a stereo mix that uses both speakers and has not been mixed to mono? But why just some songs, any ideas?
