LS Polls: Leaders, Celebs & Biz honchos get fingers inked

It was a rare sight on Monday across the states as VVIPs and celebrities queued up with commoners. Prominent personalities from various fields, be it politics, cinema, industry or sports, showed up at the polling stations and cast their votes in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha Polls. Mumbai was where the media's attention was focussed the most to catch all the stardust.

From top politicians to film personalities, from corporate bigwigs to sports icons, prominent figures from across fields and walks of life, queued up to cast their vote on Monday as 71 parliamentary seats went to polls.

Polling centres in Mumbai were abuzz with glitz throughout the day as voting took place for 17 seats in Maharashtra including those in the Mumbai region.

Among the politicians who cast their votes in Mumbai, were Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, BJP Candidate from Mumbai North Central Poonam Mahajan and Congress candidate from the same seat Priya Dutt, Congress candidate from Mumbai North and actress Urmila Matondkar and BJP MP and actress Hema Malini...

In fact it was like the silver screen showing up at polling centers as the prominent faces of the film industry turned up and exercised their franchise. Big B Amitabh Bachchan visited the polling centre with his family and cast his vote. Actor Salman Khan also exercised his franchise.

Many other film and sports personalities were also among those who were seen at polling centres. These include.. Anupam Kher, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgan and Kajol, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, Sonali Bendre, Sunil Shetty, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Tennis legend Mahesh Bhupati.

Republican Party of India, leader Ramdas Athavale also cast his vote in this round of voting.

Thirteen seats in Uttar Pradesh are up for grabs in the 4th phase of Lok Sabha polls. It was a mix of both, commoners as well as the VIPs who were seen in the queues at polling stations.

BJP candidate from Unnao Sakshi Maharaj, Congress candidate from the same seat Annu Tandon cast their votes. Senior Congress leader and Congress candidate from Farrukhabad Salman Khurshid also exercised his franchise.

Of the seats that went to polls on Monday in Bihar, Begusarai is one of the most keenly watched seats.

All the three key candidates from the seat, BJP's Giriraj Singh, Opposition alliance candidate Tanveer Hasan and CPI candidate Kanhaiya Kumar also exercised their franchise.

In Madhya Pradesh, where stakes are high for both the BJP and the Congress, polling stations witnessed long queues. Madhya Chief Minister Kamal Nath cast his vote in Chhindwara from where he himself is contesting for the state assembly. His son Nakul Nath is contesting from the Chhindwara parliamentary constituency.

Voting was also conducted for Thirteen out of the total 25 parliamentary seats in Rajasthan. State Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his son Vaibhav Gehlot cast their vote in Jodhpur. Former Chief Minister and BJP leader Vasundhara Raje cast her vote in Jhalawar... BJP candidate from Jodhpur Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also exercised his franchise.

In West Bengal's Asansol, BJP candidate and sitting MP and Union Minister, Babul Supriyo cast his vote in the constituency.

In all, people from all walks of life across the states queued up at polling stations to play their part in strengthening the democracy by casting their votes... With fates of over 900 candidates sealed in EVMs, all eyes are on 23rd May, when the results will be out, and a new Lok Sabha will take shape.
