India will face South Korea in the finals of Sultan Azlan Shah Cup
The battle lines have been drawn, as the two best teams in the competition are all set to lock horns for the second time in less than a week. India will fight against South Korea in the final of Azlan Shah hockey Cup today in Ipoh.In leauge match, India concede last-minute goal, play out 1-1 draw against Korea. India have mantained highest rank in tally sheet, with high number of goals.
India have been crowned champions in 1985, 1991, 1995, 2009 and shared the honours with South Korea in 2010. In most recent years, the Indian team settled for silver in 2016 after losing to Australia and bronze in 2017.
India's most memorable win against the South Koreans was in the final of the 1998 Asian Games, where goalkeeper Ashish Ballal's heroics, in the shootout, earned his team a gold medal.
Manpreet Singh and his team will have to get over their medal-match fear, which have led to their downfall on innumerable occasions in the past - while the Koreans will be keen to demonstrate to the hockey world that they on par with the best in the business.
