Campaigning hits high pitch; Amit Shah files nomination from Gandhinagar
With less than two weeks left for 1st phase of polling for the upcoming general elections, campaigning has intensified in all states where polling will be held on April 11th.
BJP President is all set to contest his first ever Lok Sabha elections. He filed his nomination papers from Gandhinagar. The streets were in a festive mood as Amit Shah's mega road show made its way through town. NDA leaders were seen in full strength too. BJP has not lost the Gandhinagar seat since 1989.
BJP president Amit Shah filed his nominations for the Lok Sabha polls from Gandhinagar on Saturday. Senior BJP stalwarts Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and key NDA partner Shiv Sena's chief Uddhav Thackray besides Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani were present on the occasion.
Ahead of filing of the nominations, BJP president Amit Shah paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. After which BJP president along with Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Ram Vilas Pasawn, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal & several other leaders attended a 'Vijay Sankalp Sabha'. Clearly, it was a show of strength for the BJP and the NDA.
Amit Shah said it was his "good fortune" to file his nomination papers from Gandhinagar, which has been represented by L K Advani, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Purshottam Ganesh Mavlankar in the past.
The mega road show to the Election Commission office in Gandhinagar saw Shah showered with rose petals....it almost seemed like his victory had already been declared.
