PM remembers Nation's Heroes; 3 islands of Andaman & Nicobar renamed
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday unfurled the 150-feet tall tricolour to mark Netaji's hoisting of the national flag 75 years ago in Port Blair.
Addressing the gathering at Port Blair, Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at the fact that Netaji's firm belief that the dream of India as one nation will lead to a change in mindsets is finally coming true. The vision of Ek bharat shreshtha bharat is comming alive with contributions from 130 crore Indians.
To connect the islands with mainstream development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a Lakshwadweep, Andaman & Nicobar industrial development policy.
Prime Minister also visited Cellular Jail in Port Blair in Andaman & Nicobar Islands to pay his tributes to freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifice.
Prime Minister announced renaming of three islands of Andaman and Nicobar on the occasion of 75th anniversary of Tricolour hoisting by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
The Prime Minister also released a commemorative stamp, its first-day cover and a Rs-75 coin on this special day.
