Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill 2018 to be tabled in Rajya Sabha

Both the Houses of Parliament are scheduled to resume today after a weekend break. The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill 2018 or Triple Talaq Bill seeking to criminalise instant divorce will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha.

The BJP and Congress have issued a whip to their MPs to be present in the House when the Bill will be tabled.

The Bill will be moved by Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in Rajya Sabha.

Lok Sabha has already passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill 2018.

In Lok Sabha, 245 MPs voted in favour of the Bill while 11 opposed it.
