Meghalaya: Efforts on to find trapped Miners in East Jaintia Hills

Rescue operations are underway in Meghalaya, to trace over a dozen missing miners trapped in a coal mine in East Jaintia Hills for the last two weeks.

The rescue has hit roadblock due to cold water in the mines. This is making it difficult for divers to carry out the operation. The Rescue team is trying its best. The NDRF divers will again dive into water today in search of the miners and they are hoping for a better output. The Navy team will again go inside the mines today with sophisticated equipment that they have.

Nearly 200 rescuers from various agencies are stationed at the site.

Meanwhile, 10 high powered pumps requisitioned by the Union Home Ministry along with divers of Indian Army Vishakhapatnam and a team of 21 men from the Odisha Fire Service are at the site of the coal mine at Khloo Ryngksan in East Jaintia Hills district where over a dozen labourers are trapped and missing.
