ISRO successfully launches PSLV-C43 carrying satellite HysIS

HySIS can see in 55 spectral or colour bands from 630 km above the ground. The earth observing imaging spectrometer will have the capacity to perform spectral sampling up to 10 nanometres and spatial sampling up to 30 metres.

The HySIS satellite will be used for a range of applications in agriculture, forestry and geology including assessment of coastal zones, soil and inland waters.

The imaging detection chip of HySIS was designed by the Satellite Application Centre in Ahmedabad and fabricated at ISRO's Semiconductor Laboratory in Chandigarh.

The co-passengers of HysIS include 1 Micro and 29 Nanosatellites from 8 different countries. 23 of the satellites are from the United States. The foreign satellites have been commercially contracted for launch through Antrix Corporation Limited, the commercial arm of ISRO. ISRO Chairman said that Primary satellite HysIS was successfully injected into orbit.
