PM Modi addresses the India-Italy Technology Summit

Conte arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday morning and was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Modi.

The two Leaders held bilateral talks and delivered valedictory speeches in the final session of the 2018 edition of the Tech Summit, which was co-hosted by the two countries.

At the tech summit Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed on the importance of technology in today's world.

He said said that Life without technology is unimaginable and more technology is required for greater progress.

He said that India has made technology a medium of social justice, empowerment, inclusiveness and ensuring comprehensive government mechanism.

Technology is ensuring the last mile connectivity of many government schemes.

Prime Minister also underlined the huge impact technology has in ensuring ease of living. Quoting verifiable statistics, he said that digital payments are increasing at a speed of 250 crore transactions per month.

He added that in the past 4 years in India, the price of 1 GB data has reduced by more than 90 per cent.

He said that now Indian innovation is giving due importance to quality and the hugely successful Indian space program is a standing testimony to that.

Earlier, PM held talks with Italian PM. Both the leaders reviewed the bilateral relations and agreed to work together on expanding partnership in trade & investment, defence & security, S&T, renewable energy, counter-terrorism, regional & global issues.

During the talks Leaders also reaffirmed their strong commitment to the full and swift implementation of the Paris Agreement to counter climate change.

They also strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The leaders asserted that strong measures need to be taken against terrorists, terror organizations.
