External hard drive problem

hi guys I have an Xbox one and a 2tb external hard drive and I’ve noticed for a few days now when I switch the console off the external hard drive goes off a few mins later then it turns itself back on about a minute later then turns itself back off after about 1-2 mins and it keeps repeating this process over and over . I have the console set to instant on and have the console set to turn the hard drive off when console is off . Anyone got any advice ? It’s driving me nuts especially when...
