DreamWorks’ Prince of Egypt & Antz finally going Blu, plus Superman 4K & Dances with Wolves

All right, we’re working to smooth out some server issues here at The Bits, so today’s post will be brief. But we do have a couple of quick things to report for you today...

First, we’ve gotten a ton of requests over the years from readers wondering when DreamWorks’ Prince of Egypt and Antz were going to be released on Blu-ray. And the answer, finally, is October 16.

You can pre-order them here and here on Amazon and you can see the cover artwork for Prince of Egypt on the left there (and also below).

Each will feature 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and it appears that the previous DVD extras will carry over. Thanks to Bits reader Chris C. for the heads-up on this. [Read on here...]

One other things: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has begun to re-solicit all of their DC live action superhero films for re-issue Blu-ray/4K on 10/2. It seems likely that this is part of the studio’s effort to gear up for the yet-to-be-announced release of Superman: The Movie in 4K Ultra HD. So we would expect the street date for that to be 10/2 or sometime in the week or two thereafter. We’ll let you know when we hear anything official.

By the way, our information is that the Superman: The Movie Ultra HD release will include only the theatrical cut restored in 4K, though the other cuts could obviously be included in 1080p HD on an accompanying Blu-ray Disc.

There’s a rock song that came out a few years ago. And I have a very vague description of it. The music video starts with a guy walking around a bar recording himself. There was another guy in the back that killed someone and kills the guy recording himself. When the band is playing the ground is like glass and there is blue lights. PM Modi will take oath  for the second consecutive term at 7 pm today at Rashtrapati Bhawan after his massive victory in the national election. Under the administration of President Ram Nath Kovind, the Prime Minister, his council of ministers will also take oath at a dazzling ceremony that will be attended by world leaders, celebrities and politicians. A record number of 8,000 guests are likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony. In 2014, approximately 5,000 people attended the ceremony. The guest list includes heads of several neighbouring countries, chief Ministers of most of the states and a few famous personalities of the entertainment world.
